Keno was first played in 200 BC by the Chinese military commander, Cheung Leung who used this game as a finance resource for his failing army. The city of Cheung was waging a war, and after a bit of war time appeared to be looking at a country wide famine with the drastic drop in supplies. Cheung Leung had to develop a rapid fix for the financial calamity and to produce revenue for his forces. He thusly designed the game we now know as keno and it was a fantastic success.
Keno used to be referred to as the White Pigeon Game, since the winning numbers were delivered by pigeons from larger cities to the tinier villages. The lottery ‘Keno’ was imported to the USA in the 1800s by Chinese newcomers who headed to the US for work. In those times, Keno was played with one hundred and twenty numbers.
Today, Keno is generally enjoyed with eighty numbers in almost all of American based casinos along with internet casinos. Keno is commonly enjoyed today as a result of the laid back nature of wagering the game and the simple reality that there are no expertise needed to enjoy Keno. Despite the reality that the odds of succeeding are horrible, there is always the possibility that you could win quite big with very little gaming investment.
Keno is enjoyed with 80 numbers and twenty numbers are selected each game. Players of Keno can select from two to 10 numbers and wager on them, as much or as little as they are able to. The pay out of Keno is dependent on the bets made and the matching of numbers.
Keno grew in popularity in the United States near the end of the 1800’s when the Chinese letters were changed with more familiar, American numbers. Lotteries were not covered under the laws of gambling in the state of Nevada in Nineteen Thirty One. The casinos renamed the ‘Chinese lotto’ to ‘horse race keno’ utilizing the idea that the numbers are horses and you want your horses to place. When the Nevada government passed a law that taxed off track gambling, the casinos quickly altered the name to ‘Keno’.
