It will not usually be looked at as the most fun game in the universe of wagering, but keno has loads of devoted fans. And so it should! It’s a always thrilling lottery-esque game that’s uncomplicated to play, abundantly available in several assorted variations, and one that will yield millions of dollars for people who learn its many subtle rules. But let’s start with the basic facts here.
When defining keno to novices, some gaming masters compare it to lotto. This is at least in part apt, in that both games are basically numerical. But to carry that comparison too far might be to think too little of the great many unique characteristics that make keno so entertaining. Not like bingo, keno gamblers have the power to select the numbers for every card.
Keno cards have a grand total of 80 numbers, but the gambler is furnished with an increased level of personal responsibility by being able to determine as numerous (or as few) numbers as he thinks is appropriate. And it doesn’t take a genius to come up with how to fill out a card: all you do is circle or otherwise mark each of your desired numbers with a ordinaryball point pen like you had back in school.
After you’ve checked your numbers, carry the card back to the person at the keno booth. The person will record those numbers and then hand you a receipt. Don’t drop this (potentially) expensive bit of paper! Even if the keno pit manager remembers your loud shirt and would like to help out, without a winning receipt on you, you will get exactly $.00 for your winning card.
And there you have strategy #1: always make sure to keep your keno ticket. Let’s get on to something a tiny bit more advanced, ok?
After you’ve checked off your numbers, settle into a comfortable keno booth and watch the action take place on the big keno monitor. This is where the winning numbers show up in lights. If you have winners, mark your card accordingly. Make sure not to dilly dally, or sit there congratulating yourself for an obnoxious length of time. You need to get up to the keno booth to get your winnings, and a new keno game will likely start within not too many minutes.
Strategy number two: always make it back to the keno booth on time!
Since you do not trust yourself to make that 5 minute margin every time, you always have the option of purchasing a "multi-race" card. These include the self same set of your desired numbers on anywhere from 2 to twenty tickets. When the maximum number of games (fitting the number of tickets) is played out, you are then able to get off your numb butt and go collect your winnings.
Still another opportunity is referred to as a "stray and play" keno slip, which generally lets you make number choices for 30 rounds or more. Golly, you can take vacation to Greece and not have to worry about getting back in time to collect your numbers. Most "stray and play" cards are good for up to a whole year after it’s bought!
So now you are aware of a couple of necessary methods for winning keno. If you are an advanced user, they might seem stupidly obvious. Still, it will never hurt to brush up on the basics, and if you are a newbie user, every little bit of advice will help make your keno playing time more enjoyable.
