It won’t commonly be thought of as the most fun game in the universe of wagering, but keno has loads of fanatical enthusiasts. And why not? It’s a always entertaining lottery-like game that’s easy to master, abundantly available in several different variations, and one that can yield mega-dollars for gamblers who learn its innumerable subtle nuances. But let’s start with the basic facts for now.
When describing keno to novices, some gaming experts compare it to bingo. This is at least in part correct, in that both games are essentially numerical. However, to take that comparison too far might be to detract from the good many unique traits that make keno so fun. Not like bingo, keno gamblers have the ability to choose the numbers for every card.
Keno cards have a total of 80 numbers, but the gambler is given an additional degree of personal responsibility by being able to pick as numerous (or as few) numbers as he or she feels they need. And it doesn’t take a genius to ascertain how to fill out a card: all you do is circle or otherwise mark all your handpicked numbers with a standard#2 pencil like you used back in school.
After you have picked your numbers, take the card back to the clerk at the keno booth. The clerk will record those numbers and then hand you a receipt. Don’t lose this (potentially) lucrative bit of paper! Even if the keno pit manager remembers your pretty face and wants help out, without a winning receipt with you, you will be given exactly $.00 for your efforts.
And there you have strategy numero uno: always be sure to keep your keno ticket. Let’s move on to something a little more advanced, ok?
After you’ve picked your numbers, get yourself into a comfortable keno booth and see the action happen on the video monitor. That is where the winning numbers show up in lights. If you have winning numbers, mark your card appropriately. Make sure not to dilly dally, or sit there congratulating yourself for too great a length of time. You are required to get back to the keno booth to redeem your winnings, since a new drawing will probably begin within 5 minutes.
Strategy number 2: always make it back to the keno booth on time!
Assuming you don’t trust yourself to make that 5 minute margin each time, you always retain the option of using a "multi-race" ticket. These include the same set of your selected numbers on anywhere from two to 20 tickets. When the maximum number of rounds (matching the number of tickets) is finished, you can then get off your lazy rump and go collect your winnings.
Still another option is recognized as a "stray and play" keno slip, which generally lets you make number choices for thirty games or more. Heck, you can take vacation to Greece and not have to worry about getting back in time to redeem your winnings. Most "stray and play" slips are good for up to a whole year after it’s purchased!
So now you have learned several needed methods for winning keno. If you are a discerning keno player, they may appear to be quite obvious. However, it will never hurt to study up on the basics, and if you are a novice user, every little bit of direction will help make your keno gambling more enjoyable.
