Keno is a casino game of luck with a rich and acclaimed background. The game that we are currently familiar with has experienced incredible changes since its original creation. Gaming chroniclers have followed its background as far back as 200 B.C. to a Chinese form of amusement called ‘The Game of the White Dove.’ It’s a well-documented fact that a style of keno was played in a bingo-like configuration on the eastern seaboard right about the time of the massive Chinese arrival during the gold rush.
In its contemporary form, keno is a bit like bingo in that both games are built upon numbers. An individual keno card is printed with 80 numbers and the player will pick as many as he or she would like. This is done by marking the numbers using a pencil. Once the bettor has checked off the numbers, he/she must take the card back to the nice person at the keno booth. The cashier will then issue a ticket after recording the player’s numbers. It is up to the gambler to trade in any winning keno card before the next round begins, so stragglers must keep alert.
