It will not commonly be thought of as the funnest game in the world of gaming, but keno has loads of steadfast fans. And why not? It’s a constantly entertaining lottery-like game that’s easy to play, abundantly available in tons of assorted styles, and one that can return millions of dollars for players who learn its limitless subtle rules. But let’s start with the beginner’s rules for now.

When defining keno to novices, some gaming masters compare it to bingo. This is at least in part correct, in that each game is basically numerical. However, to take that comparison too far would be to underestimate the many unique traits that make keno so compelling. Not like bingo, keno users have the ability to choose the numbers for each card.

Keno cards have a grand total of 80 numbers, but the gambler is furnished with an additional level of personal responsibility by being able to select as numerous (or as few) numbers as she desires. And it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to come up with how to fill out a card: all you do is circle or otherwise mark each of your desired numbers with a every day oldball point pen like you had back in the day.

Once you’ve picked your numbers, take the card back to the nice person at the keno stand. The clerk will record your numbers and then hand you a receipt. Don’t lose this (potentially) valuable piece of paper! Even if the clerk remembers your pretty face and wants help out, without a winning receipt with you, you will get exactly $.00 for your efforts.

OK, so there you have strategy numero uno: always make sure to keep your keno receipt. Let’s get on to something a bit more complex, shall we?

Now that you’ve marked your numbers, get into a comfy keno booth and observe the action happen on the big keno monitor. That is where the winning numbers are displayed in lights. If you checked winners, mark your card appropriately. Make sure not to dally, or sit there praising yourself for an obnoxious length of time. You need to get back to the keno booth to get your winnings, as a new keno game will almost certainly start up within a few minutes.

Strategy #2: always be sure to get back to the keno stand on time!

Assuming you can’t trust yourself to meet that five-minute deadline each time, you always retain the option of purchasing a "multi-race" ticket. These include the self same set of your picked numbers on anywhere from 2 to 20 slips. When the maximum amount of keno games (matching the amount of tickets) is finished, you should then get off your numb bum and go get your winnings.

Still another alternative is recognized as a "stray and play" keno card, which normally lets you make number selection for thirty games or more. Golly, you can take vacation to Italy and not have to get uptight about getting back in time to retrieve your numbers. Most "stray and play" game tickets are good for up to a whole year after it’s bought!

So now you know a couple indispensable schemes for winning keno. If you are an experienced keno player, they might seem very obvious. But it will not hurt to brush up on the basic techniques, and if you are a novice player, every tiny bit of advice will help make your keno wagering more captivating.
